Consideration and approval setting an expenditure for the proposed July 4th Independence Day Celebration with Bal Harbour and Surfside in an amount not to exceed $50,000

Page 1 of 3 1 RESOLUTION NO. 2 A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN 3 OF BAY HARBOR ISLANDS, FLORIDA, APPROVING 4 PARTICIPATION IN A JOINT 4TH OF JULY 5 INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION WITH THE 6 MUNICIPALITIES OF BAL HARBOUR AND SURFSIDE; 7 AUTHORIZING A BUDGET AMENDMENT IN AN AMOUNT 8 NOT TO EXCEED $50,000; PROVIDING FOR 9 IMPLEMENTATION; AND PROVIDING FOR AN 10 EFFECTIVE DATE. 11 12 WHEREAS, the Town of Bay Harbor Islands (“Town”) seeks to provide meaningful 13 community events for its residents; and 14 WHEREAS, 2026 marks the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United 15 States; and 16 WHEREAS, the Town has the opportunity to collaborate with Bal Harbour and 17 Surfside to host a joint Independence Day Celebration; and 18 WHEREAS, the Town’s event will be held from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on July 4 at 19 the beach entrance on the south side of 96th Street; and 20 WHEREAS, a drone and fireworks show will take place at 9:00 PM at Bal Harbour 21 Beach at no cost to the Town; and 22 WHEREAS, the cost of the Town’s portion of the event is estimated not to exceed 23 $50,000; and 24 WHEREAS, a budget amendment is required to fund the event; and 25 WHEREAS, any unused funds shall revert to the General Fund at fiscal year-end. 26

NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE 27 TOWN OF BAY HARBOR ISLANDS, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: 28 Section 1. The foregoing recitals are incorporated herein as true and correct. Page 2 of 3 29 Section 2. The Town Council hereby approves participation in the joint 4th of July 30 Independence Day Celebration with Bal Harbour and Surfside. 31 Section 3. The Town Council hereby approves a budget amendment increasing 32 the Special Events Budget in an amount not to exceed $50,000. 33 Section 4.
