Consideration and approval of an ordinance on first reading increasing the toll rates per year.- Town Manager

The Town is proposing a series of toll rate increases for the Shepard Broad Causeway to meet projected operating costs, capital costs, and debt service requirements. We are recommending a series of small predictable annual increases as follows: Fiscal Year SunPass 2-Axle Toll Rate 2-Axle Toll-by-Plate Rate FY26 (current) $2.00 $3.25 FY27 $2.20 $3.50 FY28 $2.40 $3.75 FY29 $2.60 $3.75 FY30 $2.80 $4.00 FY31 $3.00 $4.25 FY32 $3.20 $4.50 FY33 $3.40 $4.75 FY34 $3.50 $4.75 FY35+ $3.50 $4.75 Rates for vehicles with more than two axles are calculated by taking the 2-axle base rate and adding a fixed fee for each additional axle (currently $7.00 for SunPass and $8.50 for Toll-by-Plate). The proposed increases will help ensure future obligations are met while maintaining healthy reserve levels.
