Item text
Recognizing May as Jewish American Heritage Month (JAHM) is an annual way to honor the achievements, resilience, and contributions of Jewish Americans to U.S. history, culture, and society. It is observed from May 1 to May 31 each year. JAHM began in 1980 with Jewish Heritage Week proclaimed by President Jimmy Carter. Over time, it expanded into a full month in 2006, when President George W. Bush officially designated May as Jewish American Heritage Month. Since then, every U.S. president has issued a proclamation, and Congress has passed resolutions to support the observance.
