Appoint Javier Font as Special Master for Board of Architects

Page 1 of 2 – Resolution No. 2025-475 CITY OF CORAL GABLES, FLORIDA RESOLUTION NO. 2025-475 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION APPOINTING JAVIER FONT AS A SPECIAL MASTER FOR QUASI- JUDICIAL PUBLIC HEARINGS FOR THE BOARD OF ARCHITECTS PURSUANT TO SECTIONS 14-103.3 AND 14- 103.2 OF THE CORAL GABLES ZONING CODE. WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to have multiple Special Masters for the purpose of reviewing appeals from the Board of Architects to ensure that there are no unnecessary delays in the appeals process; and WHEREAS, Sections 14-103.3 and 14-103.2 of the Coral Gables Zoning Code outline the qualifications and responsibilities of the Special Master presiding over quasi-judicial public hearings for the Board of Architects; and WHEREAS, the Special Master must have been a registered architect or landscape architect responsible for the design and construction of projects within the City of Coral Gables during the last five (5) years and shall have a minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in their profession and shall either be a resident or have their principal place of business in the City of Coral Gables; and WHEREAS, Javier Font is an accomplished architect with more than thirty-eight years of architectural design and project management experience with an illustrious career who meets and exceeds the qualifications and responsibilities outlined in the Zoning Code; and WHEREAS; the Special Master appointment shall be for a two (2) year term by the City Manager, in consultation with the Board of Architects and approved by the City Commission;

NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CORAL GABLES: SECTION 1. The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this resolution upon adoption hereof. SECTION 2. The City Commission of Coral Gables hereby approves the City Manager’s appointment of Javier Font as a Special Master presiding over quasi-judicial public hearings for the Board of Architects. SECTION 3. That said Resolution shall become effective upon the date of its passage and adoption herein.
