A resolution of the mayor and city commission of the city of miami beach, florida, opposing the use of the metromover as the transit option for the beach corridor trunkline of the miami-dade county strategic miami area rapid transit (“smart”) plan, urging the miami- dade transportation planning organization (tpo) governing board to rescind the designation of the metromover as the "locally preferred alternative” for the beach corridor, and further, urging the miami-dade county department of transportation and public works (DTPW) to pursue alternative transportation solutions for the beach corridor, such as a bus express rapid transit (bert) route over the julia tuttle causeway and other modes of transportation that better connect commuters between the mainland and miami beach, and to make any future decisions regarding transportation infrastructure based on new environmental and transportation studies using thorough, accurate, and up-to-date data.
