WHEREAS, the City of Miami (“City”) created the Anti-Poverty Initiative (“API”) to address poverty based on a strategy of focusing the provision of support towards the goal of having the City’s residents achieve self-sufficiency; and WHEREAS, the District 1 Commissioner provides and distributes meals and supplies for the benefit of low-income and underprivileged residents in District 1 during the holiday season (“Holiday Meals Program”) using District 1 Discretionary Funds; and WHEREAS, the provision and distribution of the meals as part of the Holiday Meals Program is consistent with and furthers the API program within the City; and WHEREAS, the District 1 Commissioner desires to continue to provide programs, meals, and opportunities for District 1 residents through the Holiday Meals Program;

NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The transfer of funds from the District 1 share of the City's API program in an amount not to exceed One Hundred Sixty-Five Thousand, Five Hundred Fifty-Three Dollars and Twenty-Two Cents ($165,553.22) to reimburse the District 1 discretionary account for the Holiday Meals Program is authorized.1 Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption. 1 The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all legal requirements that may be imposed, including but not limited to, those prescribed by applicable City Charter and City Code provisions.
