WHEREAS, the Close Up Foundation and the Claude Pepper Foundation are dedicated to fostering civic engagement and education among youth; and WHEREAS, “A Day of Deliberative Dialogue” is an event designed to engage young people in meaningful discussions about important community issues, promoting critical thinking and active citizenship; and WHEREAS, the Overtown Youth Center (“OYC”) provides a supportive environment for youth development and community engagement; and WHEREAS, the Miami City Commission recognizes the importance of such initiatives in empowering the next generation of leaders and fostering a more informed and engaged citizenry; and WHEREAS, the Miami City Commission anticipates that this event will result in increased youth engagement in civic activities, enhanced understanding of local issues among participants, a strengthened sense of community and responsibility among youth, and development of critical thinking and dialogue skills; and WHEREAS, the event is expected to have a positive impact on the community by encouraging youth participation in civic matters, enhancing their understanding of local issues, and fostering a sense of responsibility and community involvement;

NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The Miami City Commission hereby expresses its support for the Close Up Foundation and Claude Pepper Foundation’s “A Day of Deliberative Dialogue” to be held at the Overtown Youth Center on February 17, 2025. Section 3. The Miami City Commission encourages the participation of local youth and community members in this event to promote civic engagement and dialogue. Section 4. The Miami City Commission acknowledges the positive community impact of this event in fostering civic responsibility and community involvement among youth. Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption. APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS:
