AGENDA ITEM SUMMARY FORM File ID: #17293 Date: 02/26/2025 Requesting Department: Office of Capital Improvements Commission Meeting Date: 03/13/2025 Sponsored By: Miguel Gabela District Impacted: District 1 Type: Resolution Subject: Accept Grant - CPF - Allapattah Child Care Center Repairs Purpose of Item: Authorizing the acceptance of Federal Community Project Funding (CPF) administered by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) as grant number B-24- CP-FL-0591 in the total amount of $1,700,641.00 as stated herein for repairs to the Allapattah Child Care Center. Background of Item: The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development administers Community Project Funds made available by Congress annually in a Consolidated Appropriations Act. In 2024 Public Laws 118-42 and 118-47 designated $3,290,054,336 for Community Project Funding (CPF). $1,700,641.00 of the CPF has been earmarked for the City of Miami to make repairs to the Allapattah Child Care Center. The Allapattah Child Care Center provides basic math, socializing and reading skills to three- and four- year-olds. The Allapattah Child Care Center has fallen into disrepair and a retaining wall for the playground needs to be shored up. This resolution authorizes the City Manager to accept, budget allocate and appropriate the CPF funds pursuant to an agreement negotiated and executed by the City Manager in a form acceptable to the City Attorney to renovate the Allapattah Community Center.
