CITY OF MIAMI INTER-OFFICE MEMORANDUM To: Honorable Members of the City Commission Date: June 15, 2026 Subject: Art in Public Places Board From: Todd B. Hannon City Clerk References: Agenda for June 25, 2026 Enclosures: List of Members, Memorandum and Applications The Art in Public Places (AIPP) Board with the assistance and recommendations of the Planning Department, Public Art Division, and all other City departments, as necessary shall: 1. Recommend the Public Art Program Guidelines and amendments to the Public Arts Program Guidelines thereto to the City Commission. 2. Recommend the Public Art Master Plan and amendments to the Public Art Master Plan thereto to the City Commission. 3. Approve expenditures to the Public Art Fund as proposed by the City Manager or his/her designee. 4. Approve, approve with conditions, or deny proposed installations, dedications, or donations of Art, based on the Public Art Program Guidelines and the Public Art Master Plan; and 5. To act on any other Art in Public Places related matter as assigned by the City Commission. Members of the AIPP Board shall have an interest and knowledge of the visual and performing arts, and the artistic development of the City. Eight (8) board members must be knowledgeable and have a Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate Degree from an accredited university or college. The board consists of nine (9) voting members and two (2) alternate members qualified as follows: • Five (5) members shall be chosen from the following fields: fine arts, art education, museum curation, architecture, art history, architectural history, urban planning, urban design, landscape architecture, interior design, or graphic or product design; • One member shall be a professional artist; and • Two (2) members shall be from the following fields: finance, real estate development, and/or construction management. • One (1) member and two (2) alternate members must have an interest in the visual and performing arts. Neither of these members is required to have a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate Degree. One (1) alternate member shall be a representative of Miami-Dade County Public Schools. Six (6) appointments are needed at this time. • Commissioner Miguel Angel Gabela has one (1) nomination for a seat currently held by: 1. Nelson Delgado, incumbent, whose term expired on November 26, 2019.1, 2 1 Per Code Section 2-885(b), “When the nominating commissioner leaves office the board member’s term shall expire.” 2This item was continued from April 23, 2026, Commission meeting. • Commissioner Damian Pardo has one (1) nomination for a seat currently held by: 1. Olga Granda, incumbent, whose term expired on December 1, 2023.3, 4 • Commissioner Rolando Escalona has one (1) nomination for a seat currently:5 1. Vacant. • Commissioner Christine King has one (1) nomination for a seat currently held by: 1. Gary Feinberg, incumbent, whose term expired on November 17, 2020, has been a member since May 11, 2017, and will require a term waiver by a unanimous (5/5) vote of the Commission.6, 7 • Commission-At-Large has two (2) nominations for seats currently held by: 1. Juan Valadez, incumbent, whose term expired on November 20, 2019, has been a member since June 22, 2017, and will require a term waiver by a unanimous (5/5) vote of the Commission.8, 9 2. Odalys De Yurre, incumbent, whose term expired on April 10, 2025.10, 11 For your convenience, we are including a copy of the current membership of said board. By copy of this memorandum to the Agenda Office, we are requesting that this issue be placed on the June 25, 2026, Commission agenda.
