City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com City of Miami Legislation Resolution File Number: 17420 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION WAIVING THE TEN (10) DAY PER ORGANIZATION, PER YEAR SPECIAL EVENT MAXIMUM FOR EVENTS ON THE PUBLIC RIGHT OF WAY PURSUANT CHAPTER 52/ARTICLE I OF THE CODE OF CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS AMENDED, TITLED, “SPECIAL EVENTS/SPECIAL EVENTS PERMIT,” FOR A SPECIAL EVENT TO BE HELD ON EAST FLAGLER STREET BETWEEN 2ND AND 3RD AVENUE TO ALLOW FOR THE DOWNTOWN CUP FROM APRIL 14, 2025 THROUGH MAY 25, 2025. WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 52-2(h)(1) of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended ("City Code"), titled “Special Events in General; Duration and Limitations; City Commission Waiver,” Special Events on the public right of way shall be permitted up to ten (10) calendar days per organization, per year; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 52-2(i), “The above limitations on Special Events may be waived by an affirmative vote of the City Commission for the calendar year affected. Any such additional Permit(s), however, will be limited to fourteen (14) consecutive days at a time”; and WHEREAS, Julia and Henry’s (“Event Holder”), a downtown business, has applied for a Special Event Permit for the Downtown Cup (“Event”) pursuant to Chapter 52 of the City Code; and WHEREAS, the Event will be a soccer competition held on East Flagler Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues (“Event Site”); and WHEREAS, the Event is scheduled to start with set up on April 14, 2025, and to conclude on May 25, 2025; and WHEREAS, the Event will be to celebrate and showcase the upcoming World Cup which will have matches in the Miami area; and WHEREAS, the Event Holder has a proven track record of successfully activating Flagler Street, attracting thousands of pedestrians to the area; and WHEREAS, the Event Site and Event is required to comply with all applicable City of Miami (“City”) and State of Florida laws including, but not limited to, building, zoning and noise codes; and WHEREAS, the Event at the Event Site will be beneficial to the City’s residents and visitors;

NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. Pursuant to Section 52-2(i) of the City Code, titled “Special Events in General; Duration and Limitations; City Commission Waiver,” the ten (10) day limitation per organization, per year for a Special Event pursuant to Section 52-2(h)(1) of the City Code is hereby waived to allow the Event at the Event Site from April 14, 2025, through May 25, 2025. Section 3. This Resolution does not waive any other requirements of the City Code, including but not limited to, noise restrictions, applicable fees, inspections, and permits. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption. APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS:
