RESOLUTION NO. 2026- A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE OF PINECREST, FLORIDA, CONFIRMING THE NOMINATION OF AN INTERIM COUNCILMEMBER TO FILL THE VACANCY IN THE OFFICE OF COUNCILMEMBER FOR SEAT 3; PROVIDING FOR IMPLEMENTATION; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, a vacancy will be created on the Village Council of the Village of Pinecrest (the “Village”) due to the resignation of Councilmember Shannon del Prado effective April 18, 2026; and WHEREAS, there will be more than six months remaining in the unexpired term of office for the Office of Councilmember for Seat 3; and WHEREAS,
5 of the Village Charter provides the method of filling a Village Council vacancy; and WHEREAS, pursuant to
5(c)(ii) of the Village Charter, the Village Mayor nominates an interim councilmember, subject to confirmation by the Village Council, to fill the vacancy on the Village Council for Seat 3 until the next regularly scheduled election in Miami- Dade County when more than six months remain in the unexpired term of office for a seat; and WHEREAS, the Village Mayor nominated to fill the vacancy on the Village Council for the Office of Councilmember Seat 3; and WHEREAS, the Village Council desires to confirm the nomination and appointment of to the Office of Councilmember for Seat 3; and WHEREAS, the Village Council finds that this Resolution is in the best interest and welfare of the citizens of the Village.
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF PINECREST, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Recitals. That each of the above-stated recitals are hereby adopted, confirmed, and incorporated herein. Section 2. Confirmation of Interim Councilmember. That the Village Council hereby confirms the nomination and appointment of to fill the vacancy in the Office of Councilmember Seat 3 pursuant to
5(c)(ii) of the Village Charter. The -2- appointed Councilmember shall serve as Interim Councilmember for the Office of Seat 3 beginning April 18, 2026, until the election of a successor at the next regularly scheduled election or as otherwise provided by the Village Charter. Section 4. Implementation. The Village Clerk is authorized to take all actions necessary to effectuate this Resolution, including administration of the Oath of Office. Section 5. Effective Date. That this Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 14th day of April, 2026. Joseph M.
