Proclamation recognizing 50th anniversary of Beth Am Basketball

WHEREAS,this season marks the 50th Anniversary of Beth Am Basketball, the oldest and largest Temple-based basketball league in the country; and Whereas, Beth Am Basketball is available to the entire community, bringing in players from many different backgrounds, religions and ethnicities together as they learn the benefits and importance of teamwork, sportsmanship and commitment; and Whereas, Beth Am Basketball takes pride in encouraging players of all ability levels to participate, from beginner to advanced, and on promoting skill development and fostering a love for the sport; and Whereas, this Fall, almost 400 girls and boys in grades 1st through 10th will participate in the league, with the 50th Anniversary season continuing in the Spring, expecting even more players to participate; and Whereas, with the use of the new Poyastro Family Athletic Center and outdoor basketball court, Beth Am Basketball is finally returning to pre-pandemic levels of player participation; and Whereas, many Beth Am Basketball alumni have gone on to play collegiately or beyond, and many have returned to the League to volunteer as coaches, and we have families with three generations of League participants;

Now, therefore, I, Joseph M. Corradino, Mayor of the Village of Pinecrest, Florida, on behalf of the Village Council and its citizens, do hereby proclaim Saturday, December 9, 2023 as Beth Am Basketball Day In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Village Clerk to affix the Seal of the Village of Pinecrest, Florida this 9th day of December, 2023 and do hereby encourage all citizens of the Village of Pinecrest to join me in congratulating Beth Am Basketball on the occasion of their 50th Anniversary. _________________ Joseph M.
