Authorize $58,575 sidewalk installation contract with Metro Express

RESOLUTION NO. 2024-__ A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE OF PINECREST, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE VILLAGE MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH METRO EXPRESS FOR SIDEWALK INSTALLATION FROM 94TH STREET TO 88TH STREET ON 57TH AVENUE; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, The Town of Miami Lakes conducted a competitive bidding process for the procurement of Miscellaneous Roadway and Drainage Services and awarded a bid to Metro Express; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-287 of the Code of Ordinances, the Village Manager is authorized to execute contracts, as entered into by other governmental authorities, provided that the governmental authority has followed a competitive bidding procedure leading to the award of the bid or contract in question; and WHEREAS, the Village Manager wishes to enter into a contract with Metro Express for Sidewalk Installation from 94th Street to 88th Street on 57th Avenue;

NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF PINECREST, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That the Village Council hereby authorizes the Village Manager, pursuant to Section 2-287 of the Code of Ordinances, to “piggyback” on an existing contract between Town of Miami Lakes and Metro Express (ITB No. 2020-04), and enter into an agreement with Metro Express for Sidewalk Installation from 94th Street to 88th Street on 57th Avenue. The construction proposal is based on pricing provided in a piggy-back contract that was approved by the Village Council via Resolution 2023-8. Funding for this project is allocated in the FY 2024 Budget, Transportation Fund as miscellaneous sidewalks. I hereby respectfully recommend the Village Council adopt the attached resolution authorizing the Village Manager to accept the proposal and enter into a contract for the aforementioned roadway work.
