DATE: August 1, 2025 TO: Yocelyn Galiano, Village Manager FROM: Jason Cohen, Chief of Police RE: Red Light Camera Program Annual Report In accordance with
0083(4)(a) of the Florida Statutes, I am attaching the mandated state Red Light Camera (RLC) report for your review. As per the statutes, this report must be presented to the municipality’s elected body for consideration of renewing the red light camera contract and continuing the program. Since the statute mandates that we base our decision on actual data, I recommend continuing the program based on the data provided in the attached report. In summary, during the 2024-2025 reporting period, 13,576 red light violations were issued. This represents an approximate reduction of 15% over the previous reporting period. This significant number of violations indicates that despite the clear posting of “photo enforced” signs at the equipped intersections, drivers continue to disregard the signs and proceed through red lights. While the overall trend has been on a downward trajectory since the program’s inception, the data clearly demonstrates the need to continue the program.
