WHEREAS,through the extraordinary, dedicated leadership of their coach, Kelly Gibson, the Miami Palmetto Senior High School Boys and Girls Tennis Teams won the Division 4A State of Florida High School Athletic Association Championship played in Orlando, Florida on April 27, 2023; and Whereas, the Miami Palmetto Senior High School Boys and Girls Tennis Teams went undefeated for the 2023 tennis season, won the GMAC championship for both boys and girls for the past three years, and holds one of the most decorated records in Miami- Dade County school sports; and Whereas, this is the 3rd State Championship for the Miami Palmetto Senior High School Girls tennis team and 4th State Championship for the Boys tennis team since 2018; and Whereas, the tennis players have demonstrated great skill, sportsmanship, and perseverance at every match and tournament, representing their school at the highest levels of athletic competition; and Whereas, the coaches, athletic director, assistant athletic director and sports trainers have performed outstandingly in all regards to support and enhance the tennis program at Miami Palmetto Senior High School; and Whereas, Miami Palmetto Senior High School Tennis Championships would not have been possible without the talented guidance and commitment of 17th year Coach Kelly Gibson, who continuously develops a lineup and powerhouse team that performs at a superior level; and Whereas, the Village of Pinecrest thanks the players, coaches, athletics staff, students, administrators, parents, and community sponsors for representing our Pinecrest community and making the Village of Pinecrest proud throughout this incredible tennis season, Go Panthers!
Now, therefore, I, Joseph M. Corradino, Mayor of the Village of Pinecrest, Florida, on behalf of the Village Council and its citizens, do hereby proclaim May 31, 2023 as Panther Tennis Day In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Village Clerk to affix the Seal of the Village of Pinecrest, Florida this 31st day of May 2023 and do hereby encourage all citizens of the Village of Pinecrest to join me in celebrating Pinecrest Tennis Day.
