Authorize $50,000 match to state historic resources grant for living history presentation

RESOLUTION NO. 2022- A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE OF PINECREST, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE VILLAGE MANAGER TO GUARANTEE A MATCH TO THE STATE OF FLORIDA DIVISION OF HISTORIC RESOURCES GRANT FOR A LIVING HISTORY PRESENTATION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Village is applying for a Small Matching Grant from the State of Florida Division of Historic Resources, in the amount of $50,000, for a living history presentation performed by animatronic parrots and cockatoos, passing down to future generations the extraordinary history of Parrot Jungle.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF PINECREST, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That the Village Manager is hereby authorized to guarantee matching the State of Florida Division of Historic Resources grant, once approved, in the amount of $50,000, for a living history presentation. The grant is for $50,000. The project is for a living history presentation performed by animatronic parrots and cockatoos. We feel strongly, that for the extraordinary history of Parrot Jungle to be passed down to future generations, the solution of using animatronics is both in keeping in the spirit of our family entertainment positioning and using the images of parrots in the only way possible, by educating visitors about our rich history. We are respectfully requesting a guarantee from Council that if this grant is awarded, the Village of Pinecrest will approve a $50,000 match to the grant. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
