DATE: August 31, 2023 TO: Yocelyn Galiano, ICMA-CM, Village Manager FROM: Cristina Blanco, Pinecrest Gardens Director RE: Upper Garden FPL Transformer Damage Update I hereby respectfully request approval of the attached resolution providing an after-the-fact approval of unplanned expenses for facility remediation and repairs and replacement of equipment due to damages caused as a result of an improperly installed transformer in our new Upper Garden area. Due to the timing of damages and immediate repair and remediation work required, the Village paid six invoices totaling $36,253.23. The breakdown: $698.54 replacement of air conditioner mother board, $3,125 replacement of alarm system control panel, $8,895 replacement of three large ventilation fans, $771.29 two electrician visits, $850 mold assessment test, and $21,913.40 mold remediation and repairs needed in brand new facility where air conditioner was damaged. Village staff is actively working with Florida Power & Light to enter in to a reimbursement contract for facility and equipment remediation and repair costs recovery. THIS PAGE INTENTIONALLY BLANK RESOLUTION NO. 2023- A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE OF PINECREST, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE VILLAGE MANAGER TO ENTER INTO UNPLANNED EXPENSES FOR UPPER GARDEN FPL TRANSFORMER DAMAGE; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF PINECREST, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That the Village Council hereby authorizes the Village Manager after-the-fact to enter into unplanned expenses for facility remediation and repairs and replacement of equipment due to damages caused as a result of an improperly installed transformer in our new Upper Garden area. Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 12th day of September, 2023. Joseph M.
