DATE: May 1, 2023 TO: Yocelyn Galiano, ICMA-CM, Village Manager FROM: Robert C. Mattes, CPRE, CPSI, Parks and Recreation Director RE: Gary Matzner Park Conceptual Design MKSK Design Studios has created four new conceptual designs for the Council’s consideration for the development of Gary Matzner Park. Each design takes into account the permitting requirements needed to ensure the proposed design will be feasible. Each design uniquely addresses a community need as outlined in the Parks and Recreation Master Plan. Concept A focuses on open greenspace, Concept B addresses additional pickleball courts, Concept C addresses golf in the Village, and Concept D addresses the need for additional public basketball courts. Given the space constraints of the property and the continued need for greenspace within the Village, it is the Parks and Recreation Department’s recommendation to move forward with concept A. Concept A provides sufficient amenities and recreational opportunities for youth and adults while maximizing greenspace within the park. 1 GARY MATZNER PARK Village of Pinecrest 1/17/2022 RENDERINGS ARE CONCEPTUAL AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE 65TH CT 67TH AVE N KENDALL DR N^ CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT LAWN LAWN PINE MULCH AREA W/ LOUNGES PARKING (15 SP) 7’ 7’ 190’ (EXTENDS BEYOND PROPOETY LINES) 40’ HERITAGE OAK COVERED PLAY STRUCTURE NATURAL AREA RUBBERIZED SURFACE CIRCUIT TRAIL PARK GATEWAY PARK GATEWAY PRESERVED SPECIMEN PINE VISIBILITY TRIANGLES SHELTER W/ RESTROOMS, TICKET WINDOW, STORAGE PROTECTED EXISTING TREES (TYP.)
