Contract $48,000 for safety fencing at Flagler Grove Park

RESOLUTION NO. 2023- A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE OF PINECREST, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE VILLAGE MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH SOUTH FLORIDA FABRICATION & FENCING FOR SAFETY FENCING AT FLAGLER GROVE PARK; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF PINECREST, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That the Village Council hereby authorizes the Village Manager to enter into the attached agreement with South Florida Fabrication & Fencing for safety fencing at Flagler Grove Park. Section 2. Mattes, CPRE, CPSI, Parks and Recreation Director RE: Lacrosse Fence at Flagler Grove Park The success of the new lacrosse program at Flagler Grove Park has brought to light the need to install improved safety fencing on the east and west sides of Flagler Grove Park. This action is an effort to prevent stray lacrosse balls from damaging the abutting neighbor’s property or persons and to prevent athletes from climbing over the fence and into the neighbor’s property to retrieve equipment. During the January Strategic Planning Meeting, the Parks and Recreation Department presented the need to install improved safety fencing at this location. Previously, safety netting was installed at the beginning of the lacrosse season, but this netting is proving insufficient for the park’s application. The additional fencing was not anticipated and, therefore, not budgeted in the Fiscal Year 2023 budget. The Parks and Recreation Department is asking for a budget amendment of $48,000 to install the permanent fencing as soon as possible. The lacrosse program runs year-round, and hundreds of youth participate in this program. The installation of the higher and more robust fence will help to prevent potential damage or injuries moving forward.
