June 16, 2025 Robert Mattes Parks and Recreation Department Village of Pinecrest 5855 Killian Drive Pinecrest, FL 33156 Subject: America 250 Marker for Veterans Park (Sponsored by the Coral Gables DAR) Dear Mr. Mattes, As you may know, The Daughters of the American Revolution is a non-profit, non-political, volunteer women’s service organization that works to promote three objectives: historic preservation, education, and patriotism. The National Society has established a new program to honor the memory of the men and women who helped achieve American Independence 250 years ago. This effort raises awareness of the courage and sacrifice of the Patriots who won America's Independence by placing a plaque in a designated area to raise appreciation amongst current and future generations of Americans of our Patriots' sacrifice for their benefit. The bronze plaque measures 20x20 and can be mounted on marble or stone. The plaque would read as follows: Revolutionary War Patriots This marker commemorates the men and women who achieved American independence. These Patriots, believing in the noble cause of liberty, fought valiantly to found a new nation. 1775 - 1783 Presented by ______________________________________________________________________ (Name of Sponsoring Entity) Daughters of the American Revolution in honor of the 250th anniversary of the United States. The cost of the plaque is $2,160 (through June 30, 2025). I do not know how much cost will be as of July 1st. We thought this plaque would make a nice addition to Veterans Park in Pinecrest. Given the renovation project underway, we felt this was the perfect opportunity to share our appreciation for our Patriots and contribute towards the Village of Pinecrest's project. Respectfully, Penelope Johnson Chapter Vice-Regent
