Proclamation on International Day of Happiness

WHEREAS,acknowledging United Nations resolution 65/309 adopted on July 19, 2011, titled "Happiness: towards a holistic approach to development," which encourages the exploration of additional measures to better encapsulate the significance of pursuing happiness and well-being in development, thereby guiding public policies, ; and Whereas, recognizing United Nations resolution 66/281 adopted on June 28, 2012, designating the International Day of Happiness, affirming their understanding that the pursuit of happiness is a fundamental human objective, and Whereas, acknowledging the global relevance of happiness and well-being as universal objectives in human lives and the importance of acknowledging them in public policy objectives, and Whereas, acknowledging the necessity for a more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable approach to economic growth, which promotes development, poverty alleviation, happiness, and the well-being of all individuals, and Whereas, in collaboration with the World Happiness Foundation, the Village decided to work towards becoming a City of Happiness, and to declare March 20th as the International Day of Happiness; and Whereas, we extend an invitation to all organizations within the Village, as well as civil society groups, including non-governmental organizations and individuals, to commemorate the International Day of Happiness appropriately, including through educational initiatives and public awareness-raising activities;

Now, therefore, I, Joseph M. Corradino, Mayor of the Village of Pinecrest, Florida, on behalf of the Village Council and its citizens, do hereby proclaim, March 20, 2024 as International Day of Happiness In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Village Clerk to affix the Seal of the Village of Pinecrest, Florida this 20th day of March, 2024 and do hereby encourage all citizens of Pinecrest to join me in recognizing and acknowledge our intent to build and declare the Village of Pinecrest to be a City of Happiness and celebrate every March 20th as International Day of Happiness. _________________ Joseph M.
