Jan. 6 rioters are betting that Trump will still have their backs — and there’s an easy way he could pay them.
The $1.8 billion “Anti-Weaponization Fund” to pay President Donald Trump’s allies is “ not moving forward ,” according to acting Attorney General Todd Blanche. But the president still seems eager to find a way for Jan. 6 rioters to get a payout — and it turns out that could still happen, according to legal experts.
As recently as this week, Trump argued the government should pay people who stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, claiming they had been wrongfully targeted.
