Miami-Dade wildfires burning 16,000 acres Thursday. What's threatened
Fast-growing brush fires in west Miami-Dade County have cumulatively burned over 16,000 acres since they started early this week.
The Quarry 2 Fire, located near NW 137 Ave. and NW 41 St. , grew to 15,900 acres and was 50% contained as of 6:30 p.m. on June 17, according to a map of active wildfires provided by the Florida Forest Service. At 8:19 a.m. on June 17, the wildfire, which started on Monday, had burned 5,300 acres and was 30% contained. The Well Fire, which began on Tuesday and is located near NW 122 Ave. …
