St. Petersburg Mayor Ken Welch spent the campaign’s first major debate defending his record from nearly every direction, as challengers attacked his handling of hurricane recovery , the collapsed Tampa Bay Rays deal, utility issues, transparency at City Hall and the failed Moffitt Cancer Center proposal.
The debate, hosted by the NAACP St. Petersburg Branch No. 5130 at the President Barack Obama Main Library , offered voters a closer look at the candidates trying to win their vote on election night and the issues that differentiate them.
