For at least one group of Democratic volunteers, former Republican U.S. Rep. David Jolly has explained his switch to the Democratic Party to their satisfaction in his bid for the party’s nomination for governor.
“We’ve had an issue in Florida in that we have a tendency to have former Republicans running as (Democratic) candidates for governor,” said Melissa Doff, 64, of Pasco County,referencing former Gov. Charlie Crist’s ill-fated runs in 2022 and 2014.
