More than half of Massachusetts voters say they’ve weighed leaving the state, new Suffolk/Globe poll finds
One in four of the 500 voters polled said they’ve seriously considered a move, despite the vast majority — more than 70 percent — also saying they had enough money to live comfortably or weren’t concerned about losing their jobs.
In the next few months, Caitlin Burns will likely be an example of a trend Massachusetts politicians have long feared: a young person fleeing the state for a cheaper cost of living elsewhere.
“The idea that I will live somewhere without a roommate in the near future does not seem particularly likely in this state,” said Burns, a 31-year-old financial analyst who moved from Florida in 2019 seeking more liberal views and less swampy summers. …
