Crews were making progress as they battled three brush fires in western Miami-Dade County on Friday, tackling hotspots and turning off power to help put the flames out as a stretch of the Florida's Turnpike was shut down as a result of the blaze.
The southbound lanes of the Turnpike were closed from Okeechobee Road to Northwest 41st Street "to support ongoing firefighting operations and ensure public safety," Miami-Dade Fire Rescue posted on X Friday afternoon.
