Florida’s state offices will close for an extended Independence Day break this year, giving most government employees a rare five-day holiday weekend as the nation marks its 250th birthday.
Gov. Ron DeSantis announced June 12, that state offices will close Thursday, July 2 through Monday, July 6, in addition to the state’s observance of Independence Day on Friday, July 3. The move stretches the long weekend into a mid-summer mini-vacation for roughly 96,000 employees in the State Personnel System.
