The Alabama Republican Party says U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville will remain the party’s gubernatorial nominee. The party's steering committee rejected an accusation that he has not lived in the state long enough to run for governor. The challenge was filed by Tuberville’s former primary opponent, Ken McFeeters. Tuberville's campaign says tax records show he established residency in 2018. McFeeters has pointed to Tuberville's Florida ties, including a multimillion-dollar beach home. The dispute revives similar accusations raised when Tuberville ran for Senate in 2020.
