Florida GOP rescinds invite for James Fishback to political summit
The Florida GOP rescinded an invitation to candidate James Fishback following backlash over his refusal to disavow white-nationalist figures.
Saying the original decision was a "mistake," the Republican Party of Florida rescinded an invitation to the GOP candidate for governor to attend its premier political summit and candidate forum for the 2026 elections.
The party announced the decision on its website June 12, the same day that Fishback – who's become a polarizing conservative political figure – held a news conference in Tallahassee. He debuted a seven-point “Contract with Florida,” casting his campaign as a direct challenge to both major parties and especially the Republican establishment.
