Tampa Republican Dan Weldon is trading a run for Congress for a bid for House District 64 .
Weldon was previously running for the GOP nomination for Florida’s 14th Congressional District , where incumbent Democratic U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor is seeking another term. His congressional campaign reported just over $76,500 in financial activity before switching to HD 64 on Tuesday. The decision comes weeks after two notable Republicans, former Rep. Mike Beltran and state Rep. Kevin Steele , announced plans to challenge Castor for CD 14.
