Florida lawsuit says property tax plan language 'biased, misleading'
The property taxes overhaul measure heading to November's ballot drew its first challenge Thursday.
"Biased, misleading and improper." That is how a lawsuit filed Thursday described the ballot title and summary to voters from the Republican-led Florida Legislature on its controversial property tax initiative . The loaded language renders the ballot measure, as it stands, unconstitutional, it claimed.
"This is a political slogan followed by a political flyer," said Fort Lauderdale attorney Jamie A. Cole who represents Save Our Voters from Misleading Ballot Language, a non-profit formed for the purposes of the litigation. …
