A 74-year-old man who is set to be put to death Thursday evening would be the oldest Florida inmate executed in modern history. Dusty Ray Spencer is scheduled to receive a lethal injection at Florida State Prison for the killing of his wife Karen in 1992. Records kept by the Florida Department of Corrections since 1924 show the oldest state inmates who have been executed were both 72, one last year and another in 1951. The oldest U.S. inmate ever executed was an 83-year-old man in Alabama in 2018. …
