Gov. Ron DeSantis has signed an accompanying bill to a property tax overhaul that he says makes it tougher for local governments to raise tax burdens, despite outcry from cities and counties who worry about major losses in revenue.

The aim is to drastically reduce property taxes for residents by expanding the homestead exemption.
