Tampa Electric customers will catch a break on their power bills sooner than expected.

The utility announced Tuesday that it will remove a storm recovery surcharge from customer bills effective Aug. 1, a month earlier than originally planned, resulting in an 11% to 12% reduction in monthly electric costs for most residential and small-business customers.
