Pedestrians before e-bikes, scooters keeps Tallahassee sidewalks safe | Letter
Tallahassee resident Kathy McDaris argues in this letter to the editor that e-scooters and e-bikes are creating new dangers for local pedestrians.
I recently read of the death of a cyclist in New York City, hit head-on by an e-scooter that was traveling the wrong direction in the bike lane. A few days later, I read the “My View” by Llona Geiger of Tallahassee , addressing the increased dangers for pedestrians on sidewalks, created by the uptick in use of powered scooters and e-bikes.
Experienced cyclists avoid sidewalks unless there are no alternatives and most are aware pedestrians have the right-of-way and speed needs to be reduced.
