Public safety is one of government’s most important responsibilities. Meeting that responsibility requires more than reacting to crime after it occurs; it requires investing in practical solutions that improve outcomes, strengthen accountability, and make our justice system more effective.
That is why I have introduced legislation addressing two critical challenges facing Miami-Dade County: expanding access to competency restoration treatment for individuals with serious mental illness and pursuing advanced DNA technology to assist law enforcement in identifying offenders and solving crimes.
