I appreciate the perspective that investment and redevelopment will play an important role in Fort Myers Beach's recovery. Few would disagree that rebuilding after Hurricane Ian requires significant private investment, strong businesses, resilient infrastructure, and a healthy local economy. Where many residents differ is in the belief that preserving community character somehow stands in the way of recovery.
Fort Myers Beach is not simply a collection of properties. It is a community with a unique identity, history, and sense of place. Those qualities are not obstacles to our future. …
